A WAITANGI TREAT

Plentiful they may be, so why not enjoy 18 holes at Akarana, where Steve Hackett will supply you with a splendid set of hire clubs and send you out on a picturesque course with delightful water hazards.

Before starting your adventures Waiheke, the most populated of the Hauraki Gulf islands, is well worth a visit and will not disappoint. The landscape is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive grove. The island also has a 9 hole golf course

Your journey from Auckland start to the Bay of Plenty can be by Air to Kerikeri, with the smallest aircraft flying between Kerikeri and Auckland, NZ a BE1 operating by Air New Zealand with 19 seats.

Or via the coastal road, the Auckland Harbour Bridge signals your exit from Auckland City on the Northern Highway and the beginning of a 4 hour scenic drive to Paihia. The Waitangi treaty grounds encompass a challenging and well manicured course, which Merle Tipene manages and acts as Secretary. Again, the hire clubs are modern, so the golfer need have no excuses should they avail themselves.

Golf in New Zealand is an absolute pleasure and by no means out of reach of anyone's pocket, the people so friendly and the scenery amazing. Enjoy.
