Seniors Welcome

The concept of Seniors County Golf was started in 1995 with the first match against Cheshire at Beau Desert Golf Club. The format is now firmly established and has continued to develop and we play 11 different midland county teams each year. Venues alternate each year playing alternate home and away matches all on the better midland courses. The popularity of this friendly inter county rivalry continues to grow rapidly with many scratch and 1 handicap players getting involved, standards are getting better each year.   Staffs Seniors Vs Derbyshire Leek Birchall GC Friday 7th May 2010 The 2010 season opened with a home match against old rivals Derbyshire at the home course of Leek Birchall. After an indifferent start in the morning greensomes the Staffordshire team trailed by 2.5 to 3.5 but Captain Terry Henwood must have given one of his emotional pep talks to his boys because they rallied in the afternoon better balls to finish victors by 8 points to 4. Thisgave the Staffs team a good start to the season with an overall 10.5-7.5 victory Winners in the morning games were Vice Captain Nick Copestick & Peter Hodginson [Trentham], Glen McBryde [Stone GC] & County President Andrew Dathan [Whittington].
