PATRON THE LORD STAFFORD and Mr ANDREW DATHAN 2013 The concept of Seniors County Golf was started in 1995 with the first match against Cheshire at Beau Desert Golf Club. The format is now firmly established and has continued to develop and we play 11 different Midland county teams each year. Venues alternate each year playing alternate home and away matches all on the better midland courses. The popularity of this friendly inter county rivalry continues to grow rapidly and with many scratch and 1 handicap players getting involved, standards are getting better each year.   AWARD GIVE TO MR JOHN LOADER BY STAFFORDSHIRE SENIORS. The attached photo was taken at the recent John Loader Trophy held at Druids Heath Golf club in April 2011. :image: It is of Staffordshire Senior?s President Professor David Thomas awarding John Loader his personalised golf bag as recognition for his great services to Staffordshire as a Past President of the County and his contributions to Seniors Golf. John was the great driving force in the creation of scratch golf for Staffordshire Seniors starting back in 1995. Thanks to John?s efforts, there is now a thriving Midlands golf section with Staffordshire playing 10 other midland counties each year. The English Golf Union have now recognised the importance of county seniors golf and hold the area team of six championships with a national final and now there is a Seniors Champion of champions included in the English national program. Despite his advancing years, John still plays of a handicap of three and is a regular player in the county senior?s team; he still contributes to the administration where his knowledge and experience is a great help to the executive committee. I would like to give a personal thank you to John for all his help and assistance over the years and to wish him a continuing long and enjoyable golfing career.
