Squire Trophy: seniors matchplay finals

 5 handicapper Phil Brewarton of Sandwell Park golf Club beat the holder and favourite Glen McBryde [scratch] 4 & 2 to become the Staffordshire Seniors Match Play Champion. In a one sided final, Glen had trouble finding his form with many uncharacteristic wayward shots while Phil Brewarton retained his composure with steady golf thoughout the match. Brewerton confessed to being very fortunate to making the finals after being 5 down at one stage to Edmund Kuhn in the semis. When it was all over an exstatic Phil said "I have played well and still lost convincingly to Glen several times before, so today I was relaxed, expecting more of the same and was determined just to enjoy the day"  Well done Phil. Commisurations to Glen and to Stuart Belcher and Edmund Kuhn who lost in the semi finals.
