Staffs Seniors Vs Leicestershire 2011

On a superb golfing day, Staffordshire seniors suffered yet another exasperating narrow defeat in the away match against Leicestershire at the delightful Kirby Muxloe Golf Club. Captain Nick Copestick must be frustrated beyond words, with his fine personal performances in winning the Staffordshire stroke play championship and taking his team to the finals of the EGU team championship, events seem to conspire against him in the inter county matches.

Staffordshire fielded a strong team but some unexpected defeats left the side 1-5 down after the morning greensomes. Keith Andrews and Terry Henwood were the only morning victors. The afternoon betterballs fared better with President Andrew Dathan & Edmund Kuhn , Keith Andrews & Terry Henwood and Dave Thomas & Martin Payne recording victories but it all resulted in a narrow 8-10 defeat for Staffordshire.
