STAFFS SENIORS BACK ON WINNING STREAK

Staffordshire Seniors reversed their atypical poor run of results when they beat Cambridgeshire 10-8 in the away match at the university course of Gog Magog. Perhaps it was the scent of gentle academia that motivated a very relieved stand in Captain Terry Henwood and his boys to a lunchtime lead of 5-1. The match was played on the demanding Wandlebury course [a 6700 yard qualifier for the British Open] It was the hottest day of the year thus far and the Staffs boys ran oput of steam in the afternoon better balls loosing 5-7 with three of the losses going to the last green. However, that was just enough to give the Staffordshire team an overall victory of 10-8. As always it was a most enjoyable day and Captain Terry Henwood had to be asked to sit down after a 20 minute session of amusing story telling!
