STAFFS SENIORS VS LANCASHIRE SENIORS TRENTHAM PARK G.C.

Staffordshire Seniors made a welcome return to winning ways when they comfortably beat Lancashire Seniors at Trentham Park Golf Club on Wednesday 15 May. Nick Copestick, the new Seniors Captain was pleased to go in for lunch after the morning greensomes with a 3.5-2.5 lead. Newcomer Bob Barrett from S Staffs GC, playing in his first seniors county match, started off with a good half and then produced the goods in the afternoon with a good win. Morning winners were Dave Thomas and Glen McBryde as first string with Nick Copestick & Neil Portas and Peter Hodgkinson and Phil Brewerton being the other winners. The afternoon better balls saw Staffordshire take a firm grip on the match when Thomas & McBryde, Bob Barret & Trevor Bennett, Nick Copestick & Neil Portas and then Keith Andrews & Edmund Kuhn all won their matches to give Staffs an 8-4 win and a convincing overall 11.5-6.5 victory against their old rivals.
