ASGC at Stafford Castle

The Association's golf season got underway last Friday, 13^th May 2011, with the traditional opener, the Stan Hill Memorial Trophy

The competition was keenly contested by the 17 member club teams, with just 7 stableford points separating the top 7 teams.

The weather for the event was mainly dry with the occasional shower. The course was presented in very good condition and obviously suited the players. This was highlighted by Stone member Eric Tunstall who recorded a 2 net 1 on the par 4 seventh hole for five points. Eric, who plays off a 24 handicap, went on to score 33 points for his team whilst failing to score on 7 holes. Clearly not a man to play against for high stakes!!!

The after match meal was excellent, and the catering and bar staff were efficient and very friendly. A special mention also for the Manager, Sharon Calvert for her invaluable help.

Stafford Castle Captain, Darrel Edwards welcomed the Association to the club and assisted ASGC President Bill Evans with the prize presentation.

The President also presented a commemorative plate to Beau Desert Golf Club who this year, celebrate their centenary.
