Staffs Vs Cheshire 2011

LORD STAFFORD and COUNTY PRESIDENT ANDREW DATHAN

Staffordshire Seniors played their second match in a home fixture at Trentham Golf Club against a very strong Cheshire team. The Staffordshire team welcomed their Patron The Lord Stafford for his first county match on Wednesday 11 May. Lord Stafford was a very useful addition to the squad and playing with the County President Andrew Dathan they managed to halve both their morning and afternoon matches. It was a spectacular morning recovery when after being dormy 4 down they managed to win the last four holes!

As always we were made very welcome by Trentham golf club and we thank them for hosting the match. The course was in superb condition and once again, the weather was very kind to us.

Unfortunately the rest of the Staffordshire team did not fare as well as Lord Safford; They were behind in the morning Greensomes by 2.5-3.5 with only Captain Nick Copestick & Glen McBryde, Martin Payne and Dave Thomas winning their matches. The afternoon matches followed a similar pattern with Nick and Glen again winning and Peter Gill and Terry Henwood securing a comfortable 3&2 victory to give the only Staffordshire wins. The result was a 7.5-10.5 loss for Staffordshire.
