MATCH v LEICESTERSHIRE - 2011

Our first friendly was played against Leicestershire at Kibworth G.C. on Sunday 10th April. I was away on holiday so Tony Cheese took over from me for the day.

With it being Leicestershire's 4th match, in the absence of few key playersand with the course requiring a fair bit of local knowledge, it was always going to be a tough ask.

Second Team Captains Report

There were 2^nd team debuts for Jack Davis, Josh Picard, Louis Birchall and Terry Bray, Darren Martin made a return to the amateur ranks after a stint in the professional game to make up half of the new ten man format.

The foursomes ended in a whitewash for the visitors who seemed to make the most of the slow and bumpy greens in the morning contests to lead at lunch 0 - 5.

The afternoon singles were once again much of the same with the Leicestershire and Rutland players reaping the benefits of this being their 5^th pre-season friendly match.

There were successes from Craig Smith, Martin Crook and Terry Bray on debut and a half from next years captain, John Haynes in the singles that saw the final result to be 3.5 - 11.5.

Many thanks to Bloxwich Golf Club for their hospitality on the day, the players wished to thank the club for some excellent catering.
