Success at the McEvoy trophy
The McEvoy Trophy was played at Copt Heath over the last two days.
As you know it is a 72 hole strokeplay championship for the best U18's in the Country.
Staffordshire had two players in the field, Louis Birchall and Robert Burlison.
They both did well. Having just made the cut on Wednesday they put in a high quality performance today.
The cut for the top 40 came at 150. Louis scored 75 + 73 for 148.
Rob scored 77 + 72 for 149.
Today Louis's scores were 74 + 69, giving a 4 round total of 291 and a tie for 20th place.
He was on fire over his last 9 holes, scoring 5 birdies, including 4 over the last 5 played.
Rob scored 72 + 71 today for a total of 292 which tied 24th. Rob also finished well, with birdies at his last 2 holes.
A fine effort from both lads. Louis is young enough to be back at the McEvoy next year. Rob has two more years.
Nathan Kimsey won it with 272. An Irish lad (Dermot McElroy) shattered the course rcord this afternoon with a 61!
All of the scores can be found on the Copt Heath website.
