FORTY EIGHTH ANNUAL DINNER
The President, Andrew Dathan
One hundred and eighty people attended the Annual Dinner held in the marquee at Aston Wood Golf Club. Among the guests were the Presidents of most of the Midland Counties. We were honoured to have the President of the English Golf Union as our principle guest and who proposed the toast to 'The Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs'.
At the beginning of proceedings the major 2010 prize winners were presented with their awards.
The President of the English Golf Union, Elwyn Ellis, presented the English Golf Union Centenary Plate to the Captain of Beau Desert Golf Club.
The President welcomed his guests before announcing that Staffordshire had won the Daily Telegraph West Midland League and congratulating the Team and Captain Dean Porter.
In thanking the Secretary and the many members of the executive, who work so tirelessly for County Golf, he highlighted the long service to Staffordshire golf by Eric Hassell C.B.E. who received the Len Turner Prize for his contribution to golf in the county.
Later in the evening we were entertained by guest speaker Professor David Thomas a Past President of the County, a really entertaining after-dinner speaker.
Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Roger Waite, County Junior Delegate.
