MIDLAND REGION PAST PRESIDENTS REUNION

During their two years in office Presidents of the ten Midland County Golf Unions have formed lasting  friendships.  The Midland Region Past Presidents Association has been inaugurated to foster and maintain these friendships into the future.

During this time the Presidents Ladies have also formed lasting friendships so that the reunion is for the Past Presidents and their Ladies, golfers and non-golfers alike.

The Association took advantage of an offer from the Menzies Welcombe Hotel for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and two rounds of golf, staying over on the Sunday night.  Guests also had free use of the Spa on the Sunday and Monday.

On Sunday, whilst the non-golfing ladies shopped in Stratford the men took part in a sweepstake singles stableford competition which was won by Ian Pountain of Cambridgeshire.  Runner-up was Professor David Thomas of Staffordshire.  On the Monday we played a friendly AmAm which was won by David Tipple (Cambridge), Tony Reading (Warwickshire), Norman Bolton (Worcestershire).

Everyone enjoyed the reunion and were full of praise for the golf course and especially the hotel with it's friendly and obliging staff.  So much so that it was resolved to make this an annual event open to all Past Presidents of the Midland County Golf Unions and their Ladies.  Subject to accepable negotiations with the Welcombe we will stay at this venue for 2011.
