Glen McBryde Takes Match Play Championship

The finals were hosted by the prestigious Little Aston Golf Club on the weekend 18-19 September. The course was, as always, in superb condition and proved to be a great test of golf. Unfortunately Nic Copestick [Trentham] had to withdraw from the semi finals due to injury and that gave Barry Whitehouse ]Bloxwich a walk over into the final. The other semi final was won by Glen McBryde from Stone GC who beat Dave Law from Penn 3&2.

The final saw some superb golf with Glen McBryde seemingly coasting to victory but in true McBryde form, a huge hook into the trees on 18 cost him the hole. However Glen managed to compose himself on the 19 hole and won with a par 4.
