Lingdale Golf Club played host to the Midland Region Team Championship in which 10 Counties took part, each team consisting of six players. The competition being decided on the aggregate scores in each team.

The players praised the course and coupled with the good weather there was an opportunity to post low scores. Even so the CSS went up by one in the morning and by two strokes in the afternoon, when the wind got up a bit.

The winners were Worcestershire by six shots from Warwickshire followed a further eight shots back by Staffordshire.

Consolation for Staffordshire came from the superb golf of David Walley of Wolstanton G.C. who was presented with the Norman Russell Salver for the best gross score for the 36 holes. A morning 71 followed by an afternoon round of 67 for a total of 138, three shots ahead of the next lowest 36 hole score. Congratulations David!
