The ASGC season got off to a great start at Dartmouth Golf Club with the traditional opener, The Stan Hill Memorial Trophy team event. Teams of four Captains and Past Captains representing their respective clubs, compete in an am-am style, stableford event,

The weather held fair and the course was in excellent condition for the keenly contested event. Dartmouth would have had two main objectives at the start of play, firstly to win the event and secondly to beat their close rivals Sandwell Park.  They  almost succeeded on both counts, claiming runners-up spot edging out Sandwell on the better back six and finishing a close second to winners Brocton Hall. 

There was of course a little controversy when Brocton Hall?s score card went missing, inadvertently placed in the inside pocket of the wrong jacket. ( an easy mistake to make, given all were in similar Dinner Jackets!!!!!!)

Team: Phil Jackson, Dave Moody, Ron Sturland and Dave Lester

RUNNERS UP:
Dartmouth Golf Club 87 points (better back 6)
Team: Phil Lawley, Jeff Williams, Dave Edwards and Vince Parton

THIRD PLACE: Sandwell Park 87 points
Team: Dave Austwick, Roger Walker, John Machin and Eric Horne
