The away match against Shropshire & Herefordshire was held on Wednesday 18 May at the picturesque Llanymynech Golf Club. It was a superb golfing day with continual sunshine. The tricky course held several blind holes and this coupled with the narrow fairways made for a tough test of golf. The course is unique in that some holes are in England and the rest in Wales but several of these holes gave spectacular panoramic views, a course well worth visiting. Glen McBryde [Stone] & Nick Copestick [Trentham], along with brothers Neil & Keith Andrews [Little Aston] were the only Staffordshire pairs to win both morning and afternoon. Neil and Keith aalmost had a home advantage as they had both played golf in their early years at Llanymynech, they made full use of their local knowledge with eight birdies in the pm round.

Captain Terry Henwood was delighted with the outcome; Staffordshire seniors took a 4-2 lead in the morning and held on with a 6-6 result in the afternoon better balls thus running out 10-8 winners
