LOADER TROPHY ENVILLE GOLF CLUB Monday MAY 11 2010

The Prestigious 2010 Loader Trophy was hosted at Enville Golf Club. This is the Staffordshire Seniors scratch foursomes Championship and our thanks go to Enville and to all the staff and people who helped to made the day so successful

The event as always was very well supported with 124 competitors from 30 different Staffordshire clubs competing on the difficult Lodge course. Enville is a Regional qualifying course for the British Open; the long and difficult course, played from the championship tees proved to be a stern test for all the players.

The course was in fine condition but playing conditions were very difficult. Conditions were cold and windy but at least the rain held off, a typical English summer?s day!

There was a three way tie for best gross, Barry Whitehouse & Steve Walczec [Bloxwich, Trevor Bennett & Joey Jones [Gt Bar] and Kelvin Edwards & Renton Ward [Whittington] all carded gross 78. In the "sudden death" play off Whitehouse and Walczec beat Benett and Jones with a birdie on the third hole.

Congratulations to everybody on a most successful day, a special thank you to Terry Henwood and President Andrew Dathan and wives Val and Pippa who put in a huge amount of time into organising and administering the event.

The next event is the Staffordshire Stroke Play Championship at South Staffs Golf Club on July 5th
