Autumn Meeting at Calderfields

The County Membership Scheme held it's last meeting of the 2009 season at Calderfields Golf Club, on Monday 7th September 2009.

The day was enjoyed by 70 pairings competing in the traditional Rye Greensome format using stableford scoring.

The Chairman of Calderfields, Les Williams, welcomed the members and in his capacity of Treasurer of the Membership Scheme thanked the Club on behalf of the members for hosting the event.  For the winning pairing Martin Hayward said that the course was in excellent condition and he would highly recommend it.

Barry Whitaker, the Membership Secretary, thanked Les Williams and Colin Ward for their work on the day.  Player entrants from the main Clubs represented were, Great Barr (21), Uttoxeter (16), Trentham Park (13), Penn (12).

Money raised from these meetings supports County activities, mainly Junior coaching, but this year because the County have qualified for the English County Championship an additional donation of £2000 has been made to help defray the costs.  Additionally £250 has been given to Penn to help with their costs for the Final of the National Junior Club Championship.

September 7th, 2010  Druids Heath G.C.

Anyone wishing to support the County Team at the County Finals will be most welcome.  The finals are between Cumbria, Essex, Staffordshire, and Wiltshire and are to be played at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club on the 25/27th September, 2009
