Summer Meeting at Barlaston G.C.

County Membership Meeting
Barlaston Golf Club,  July 6th, 2009

Ninety-three entries were received for a day of rather mixed weather, play being delayed by just over an hour in the morning due to a thunder storm.   23 Clubs were represented including 25 from Penn G.C., 19 from Uttoxeter and 18 from Gt. Barr.

The Captain of Barlaston G.C. welcomed the members to his club and said that they were pleased to host the event and looked forward to doing so again.

Secretary, Barry Whitaker, thanked the Club for hosting the event.  He was especially grateful for all the help and advice the Captain and Professional had given regarding the weather disruption.  He also thanked his helpers on the desk; Brian Moody and Colin Ward and especially Bob Simkin for organising the restart after the weather delay.

All prizewinners from the last three meetings, plus two members from each Club will go forward to the Geoff Marks Trophy to be held at Stone Golf Club on Friday 7th August, 2009

The Secretary announced the Prizewinners and the prizes (Argos Vouchers) were presented by the President, Colin Porteous and the Captain, Neil Selby.

This year the Membership Scheme is to make an additional contribution of £2000 towards the costs of the County Team competing in the National County Finals at Chipping Sodbury from 25th to 27th September, 2009.  The County were able to field a very strong team for the Regional Qualifying in June and had the advantage of a home venue, Sandwell Park.  All supporters will be made welcome at Chipping Sodbury.


The next Membership Meeting is at Calderfields G.C. on Monday September 7th.
