Christopher Frank Johnson

 The Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Chris Johnson, a Past President (1978/79) of the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs; a Past Captain and President of Trentham Golf Club and Honorary Member of Leek Golf Club, was attended by many Staffordshire golfers who will always remember Chris with affection.  The Staffordshire Union was represented by Professor David Thomas, President.  

Chris' last visit to the Staffordshire Boys Matchplay Finals, held at Stone Golf Club, was last August at the age of 91!

Chris Johnson was a well known figure in the pottery industry; a director at Johnson Brothers and latterly at Wedgwood and being much involved with the Ceramic Research Association.

He gave much of his time to worthwhile causes and was for several years Chairman of the North Staffs Committee of the Sail Training Association.

In 1938 he joined the Royal Artillery TA and whilst on active service in Normandy and the Low Countries was mentioned in despatches.

The Service of Thanksgiving was conducted by the Reverend Martin Oram, Associate Vicar of Hanford with Trentham
