Match v Warwickshire - 2010
Chris Crane and Chris Bradshaw on the 12th hole at Uttoxeter.
Staffordshire First Team v Warwickshire
Date: Sunday 6th June 2010
Venue: Copt Heath G.C.
Captain: Dean Porter
Captains Report
The morning foursomes session was greeted with sunshine at Copt Heath G.C. with Staffordshire up against a very strong Warwickshire side.
Good wins from John Whitehouse partnered by Freddie Sherriden-Mills and the new pairing of Richard Prophet and Kurt Bridgen made the morning score 3-2 down a close call.
For the singles the weather took a turn for the worse and after seven holes things were looking good, we were only down in one match. Stafforshire levelled at 6-6 with John Whitehouse coming from 2 down with 3 to play to win one up, the other wins coming from Freddie, Kurt Bridgen and Dave Walley.
Three matches on the course were all square on the 17th tee, Alan Kinvig first to play up the 18th three putted to lose, next Aron Wright halves 18 to loose 1 down "game over!" To make matters worse Cheese is one up playing the last only to lose the hole when Dave Westwood chips in for a three. Final score 8.1/2 6.1/2 .
I was disappointed that for my first league game in charge we came so close to beating Warwickshire on their track.
I would like to thank all the players that came so close in horrible conditions for their commitment.

Staffordshire 2nd Team v Warwickshire
Date: Sunday 6th June 2010
Venue: Uttoxeter Golf Club
Captain: Kevin Beattie
Captains Report
The
1st league match of 2010 was against Warwickshire and played at
Uttoxeter Golf Club.
The
team was an experienced one except for Mike Hancock a Uttoxeter member who came
in at the last minute as a result of Neil Wain's late withdrawal on Saturday
night.
It
was very disappointing that myself, Dean Porter and Brian Belcher could not
find anyone to play until just before tee off on the Sunday morning.
The
course had been subject to an overnight thunder storm that rendered the greens
too wet to allow the green staff to cut the greens or change the hole
locations, this showed to be an advantage to the Warwickshire Team who funded
several players to play a practice round on the Saturday.
The
foursomes were lost 1.5 - 4.5 with the only win coming from Chris Crane and
Chris Bradshaw in the top match.
The
singles proved much closer with Staffordshire being in a match winning position
after all matches had completed 9 holes, this however was turned around with
all the last 7 matches having no more than 2 holes in each game, final score
Staffs 5.5 - Warwickshire 6.5 in the singles.
Overall
match result - Staffordshire 7 Warwickshire
