EGU Boys County Qualifying

                                  EGU Boys Midland Region QR  2011

This highly prestigeous EGU event was played at Newark Golf Club in Nottingham on Wed 1^st June. Each of the Midlands 10 Counties sent their 6 best U18 players to compete in the 36 hole qualifying round. The winners represent the Midlands in the National Finals.

Staffordshire produced a great team performance and had the best aggregate score on the day. We missed out, however, when our last player in signed for an incorrect score ? even though his total was absolutely correct.  All of the Staffordshire players and officials were left feeling low as the mistake allowed Lincolnshire to edge us into 2^nd place.

Staffordshire player and Oxley Park member Robert Burlison was the leading  player on the day.  He led the field with a record 67 in the morning. The course was in good condition but quite demanding in a blustery wind.         

Robert produced another 67 in the afternoon, for an 8 under par total, to take the individual prize by 7 shots.
